HANDLING & INSTALLATION OF SP PIPES.

• ▸ For Laying & Installation of SP Pipes refer IS: 7634 (Part III): 1975.
• ▸ Pipes should be kept on an even surface, should be properly supported & should be stacked only upto height of 1.5 Mt. while storing.
• ▸ Provision should be made for expansion joints, air vents and proper anchorage, while laying longer pipelines. Exposure of sunlight and an uneven bed is not desirable.
• ▸ Underground pipes should be laid about 60 to 100 cms. below the ground level. Trench should be as narrow as possible and its bottom should be free of stones, sharp objects etc. Preferably sand bedding may be provided.

PIPE OR FITTINGS SHOULD NOT BE CLEANED WITH SOLVENT CEMENT.

• Solvent Cement should be taken out of container only in required quantities and it should be closed immediately. Very old, hard semi-fluid solvent cement should not be used.
• A water tap should not be directly fixed on a PVC Pipe. A service saddle should be used and proper anchorage should be provided.
• Threaded PVC Pipes & Fittings should not be over tightened, as the threads may get damaged.
